Meet our Management Team

Janis Bohner

General Manager

My husband Chris and I own Digital Pix. We work tirelessly with our staff to maintain the high standards for both products and services that our customers have come to expect.

I have a liberal arts degree from DePaul University in Chicago, with a major in history and a minor in political science. I earned a JD Law degree from John Marshal Law School in Chicago. For a time, my vocation was the pursuit of an active law practice. But my avocation was retail sales and manufacturing, which I previously pursued in the solvent coatings, inks and product labeling industry. I moved into the composite business sector in 1982 at Custom Composites, Inc., a company that invented the plastic plaque. This plastic plaque proved to be a popular product that was copied by other composite companies and later became the standard in the industry. I worked with my late husband, Frederick J. Schlack, the founder of Custom Composites, Inc., a company which was established in the mid-1960s. At the onset of digital photography, my husband Chris and I started Digital Pix.

I have a lifelong interest in the visual arts. I first attended the Art Institute of Chicago at the age of 11. I have never ceased the pursuit of expression through artistic media. Digital Pix provides me with an opportunity to introduce and provide exciting photographic products to organizations across America. My artistic sense combined with my sound business background provides me with the skills necessary to keep Digital Pix on the leading edge of our industry. You can expect to see our range of exciting products to continually expand in response to your needs. If you don’t see a product or a service that you need or want, just contact us. Throughout the year I am available to speak about our “Guidelines for Choosing a Composite Company”. Please contact our Sales department for availability for speaking engagements at group meetings and conventions or to set up an appointment.

I enjoy reading, swimming, fishing and golfing.

Chris Bohner

Manager

My wife Janis and I are the owners of Digital Pix. We feel that our unique and diverse backgrounds, strong ideals and a desire to provide excellent service and products to our customers make Digital Pix the obvious choice for university and professional group photography.

I went to school at San Jose City College in California, the University of Tennessee and completed my general business studies at the University of New Orleans in Louisiana.

I was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area long before silicon was popular there. I served in the Coast Guard for almost 32 years. During that career I served in many capacities. I was a search and rescue coordinator where I planned and executed major air and sea searches. I was captain of a cutter that serviced aids to navigation throughout the central North and South Pacific Islands. I was captain of a cutter that performed law enforcement and alien interdiction throughout the Caribbean and Gulf of Mexico. I was in charge of training and preparing all of the Coast Guard east of the Rockies for all contingencies, National and International. My last assignment before retirement was being in charge of the Aids to Navigation Program and Civil Rights for the Central twenty-six States and the Gulf of Mexico which gave me oversight of thirty ships, thirty shore units and 800 personnel. With a limited budget, efficiency and preparedness was the key to success. The bottom line is that I’ve dedicated my life to unselfishly serving my fellow man. I have turned that strong force and broad experience base into making sure that our customers get the best products and service possible.

My hobbies include golf and fishing, or anything else that gets me outside. Photography gets me on the road and helps feed my passion for travel and meeting people. Perhaps I’ll take your portrait soon and I’ll get to know you!

Erica Carlson

Finance and HR Manager

I was born and raised in Illinois, in the northwest suburbs of Chicago. I went to Hillsdale College in Michigan for my freshman year and then transferred to St. Mary’s University in Winona, Minnesota, where I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Accounting. I have taken some courses towards my Masters, including a course in International Business where I was afforded the opportunity to study in both China and Korea.

After graduation, I returned to Illinois and worked for Newell/Rubbermaid in the Accounting and Auditing Department for a couple of years. Auditing assignments with them took me to England, Germany and Belgium. I then moved to Minneapolis where I took a job with NCS Pearson in their Auditing Department. Auditing assignments with NCS Pearson took me around the country and to Australia. I transferred to Pearson VUE Testing Services’ Accounting Department where I handled over eighty vendor accounts, including Microsoft, Cisco and IBM.

I enjoy SCUBA diving and underwater photography. I also enjoy golf and swimming. My two amazing children keep me youthful and busy.

Ryan McGuire

Production and Operations Manager

I was born in Kansas, but after many moves, graduated from high school in Crystal Lake, Illinois. I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Photography from Columbia College of Chicago and I am presently working on my MBA with emphasis on Information Technology.

I have been working in the photography industry since 1995 as a photographer and a lab technician. I have a hard time deciding whether I prefer taking pictures or printing them. This job offers me the luxury of doing both. I also enjoy, and seem to excel in, the technical aspects and the science of photography. I love to troubleshoot and fix hardware and equipment.

I have a lot of hobbies, but photography comes to the top of the list. I still use film and like old cameras as well as enjoy making my own cameras. I dabble in 19th century photography processes. Music is another love, as I collect record albums. My wife would say that I’m obsessed with technology of every sort. I’m especially drawn to old technologies like vinyl records and film cameras.

Camie Grabowski

Special Projects and Graphic Design Manager

I was born in Wilmette, Illinois and lived there until college. I graduated from Winthrop University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Graphic Design and Visual Communication Design. I interned in a few cities, but enjoyed my internship with an advertising company in downtown Chicago the most. I worked on some major accounts, among them, are Blue Cross/Blue Shield and Circuit City.

After school, I began to pursue a career in golf and was an Assistant Pro at Crystal Lake Country Club. Country Clubs, being in a service industry, taught me a lot about customer service. Graphic design is where my main interest lies; so in 2004, I accepted employment at Digital Pix, heading up a new graphics art department. Since the Company was starting fresh in the digital arena, we were able to develop together to the point where I can now feel the pulse of production and troubleshoot where necessary.

With a new house, I really enjoy spending time outside with my husband and our dog, Jack. I also enjoy golf and spending time with family.

Theresa Kadlubowski

Information Management and Technologies Manager

I was born in Oak Park, Illinois, and moved to Crystal Lake when I was five. I have lived in McHenry County ever since. I graduated Magna Cum Laude from DeVry University with a Bachelors Degree in Computer Information Systems.

As the Information Management and Technologies Manager at Digital Pix, I perform a lot of behind the scenes maintenance and upkeep on our many computers and servers. You usually don’t see or hear from me until someone’s computer does the unexpected. Much of my time is spent working with software consultants to create new applications that will help us better serve our customers.

My spare time is filled with family activities and scrapbooking. Computer graphics really interest me and I enjoy being creative with new software.

Wendy Hanebrink

Sales Associate

As the Sales Associate, I spend most of my time either on the phone or the computer. Since our customer satisfaction rate is close to 100%, most of my effort is directed to acquiring new customers. I love people and it shows in my voice. I am enthusiastic about our great products and world class customer service. I look forward to introducing new customers to our great company, Digital Pix.

I was born in Chicago and grew up in Barrington, Illinois. I attended Harper College, where I was an English Major. I’ve been working in sales since 1998 and enjoy the challenge. With a husband and two active and athletic sons, my hobbies are hockey and baseball. I also make the best flax seed cookies that all of my friends and colleagues rave about!

I was born in Chicago, grew up in Park Ridge, Illinois, and have lived in the northwest suburbs of Chicago ever since. I studied General Business at McHenry County College and have worked in Office Management for 27 years. I have mentored several teams of employees, helping them provide outstanding customer service. I’ve chaired several corporate re-engineering projects, resulting in greater efficiency and productivity.

I enjoy travel for both business and leisure, because it exposes me to regional traits and differing lifestyles. I find this helpful in understanding and dealing with our customers’ needs and concerns. I also enjoy puzzles of all types. They keep my mind sharp.

Ashley Gowers

Scheduling Coordinator

I’m part of a team that works with you to schedule your professional photography session. I work very hard to accommodate your date and time preferences. I make sure you have all the appropriate paperwork to gather data needed to complete your composite. I coordinate the photo session with your professional photographer. Our team of Schedulers and Account Representatives make this the easiest composite photo experience you’ll ever have.

I interned at Walt Disney World, where I was trained to provide the ultimate customer service experience. After I graduated, I worked with a marketing firm for a couple of years which further honed my communications skills and expanded my business experience. With a business like Digital Pix that has an unwavering commitment to 100% customer satisfaction, I get to interact with all our customers, utilizing my education and professionally acquired skills.

I love to travel, bake and cook. I swim and work out regularly. My husband and I love to spend time with family, friends and our dog, Ziggy.

Madgalena Kerpe

Composite Layout Supervisor

I’m Madgalena Kerpe, but everyone calls me Maggie. I am the Composite Layout Supervisor. I actually build your composite digitally and email you a proof before we start the final construction phase. After we have your approval, we still have a rigid quality control team that looks at every aspect of your composite checking for errors and minor flaws that we correct before final construction.

I was born in Sliven, Bulgaria, famous for the Blue Stone Mountains and its proximity to the Black Sea. I have a Masters Degree in Food Technology and I taught food production for seven years at the high school level. By food production I don’t mean cooking meals. I mean things like cheese production or butchering and sausage making. My specialty was technological equipment used in the food industry.

I love working with young people. I’ve gotten to know what their interests and concerns are and this knowledge helps me meet the needs of our customers at Digital Pix. I like books and movies. I love the beach, but live too far from the shore to enjoy it very often. If I lived closer I would probably have to learn to swim!
