The Chi-O's

Did you know that Chi Omega is the largest women’s Fraternity with over 300,000 initiated members at 173 collegiate chapters?  Interesting enough, only about 235,000 of those members are living.  There are other sororities with more chapters but they can’t compete with the number of members the Chi Omegas have.

The Chi Os were founded April 5, 1895 at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville with only 14 members. They wanted to become a national organization and started to move into other states like Texas, Nebraska, California, Virginia and Washington, D.C.  By 1910, only 15 years later, the women’s Fraternity had chapters all over the country and about one chapter is added every year.

The Chi Omegas have 6 purposes for their national organization with one being community service. Because they are such a large organization, their impact on the community is just as great. The Chi Omegas partnered with the Make-A-Wish Foundation in 2002 and within 4 years they gave 100,000 volunteer hours and raised over 2 million dollars.
